  2. I rewatched the 1989 episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation „Pen Pals,“ and one of the lines Picard (Patrick Stewart) says while talking about horseback riding is, „It seems that some creatures have the capacity to fill spaces you never knew were empty.“

    • I know that episode very well, being a „Trekkie“ since about 45 years now. 😉
Animals like horses, dogs and cats have the ability to heal. One of my favorite novels is „My Friend Flicka“, written by the American author Mary O’Hara – the ten years old boy Ken, an awkward daydreamer, falls in love with the wild filly Flicka. When Ken, his father, brother and the two farm workers try to catch Flicka she gets injured very severe. Fighting for her life and her friendship Ken slowly changes into a still very sensitive but also mature person…

      • I think „My Friend Flicka“ was a television show here in the U.S. because I remember watching it as a kid.

I’ve been a „trekkie“ for almost 52 years. I was 12 when the original series debuted in September 1966. Especially for its time, the show was incredible.

        • Yes, it had been a TV-show, but the serial had nothing in common with Mary O’Hara’s novel. 😉
Here in Germany the original serial started in 1971 – it was exciting! I always had a lot of fantasy – according to my parents way too much – and „Star Trek“ was of course a lot of water on my grinders. 😉
